Duplicate a hose end and ungroup it (Ctrl+U). Select the large ellipse and move it off to the side [shown in blue]. Place this ellipse and a duplicate at each end of the flexible hose segment. Save a copy of this ellipse for later use.
Bring both the right hand ellipse and that hose end to the front (Ctrl+Page Up). Get the Blend Roll-Up (Ctrl+B) and apply a blend with the following settings: Steps 30, Path is the guideline, Rotate all objects. If the ellipses "go weird" map the nodes.
Applying a white fill completes this hose. The next two exercises will present different challenges but will adapt the tools and skills from the first two hoses
