Creating Isometric Symbol Fonts - page 3
Step 07
Strategic placement of nodes is vital to a successful design. If you were developing a diagramming symbol and neglected to put nodes at critical snap points you would be creating needless work later on. Planning of every symbol is critical to avoid a poorly designed work. At Invotech we easily spend as much time planning a symbol font as actually drawing it. A symbol in a font set is used hundreds of times any waste injected here can be very costly.
Step 08
Grouped Objects, Blends, Extrusions, Compound Objects, Multiple Objects etc are no-nos. The ONLY acceptable object is a curve! You may combine multiple curves.
Step 09
Don’t be surprised. When you have successfully completed your font and installed it on your computer it may display improperly. The illustration on the left side of this spot shows a symbol library in CorelDRAW 5.0. The display next to it is same font in CorelDRAW 9.0. Clearly Corel made some changes here but don’t worry, the symbols still drop onto the page properly.
