Creating Isometric Symbol Fonts - page 2
Step 04
Create a template document by placing a symbol number in text above your grid and add pages and change the numbers for all 214 available pages (The character set ends at 0255). You may want to place a copyright notice at the end of the font set. Save this as “Type Template.cdr”
Step 05
Closed shapes are the only permitted objects. You are generating type and there is no such thing as a line. If you try to export an open shape you will bomb the export to that character space and you will need to reset the export order. To create what looks like a line get the straight-line pencil tool and click to begin, click to end, click again at the beginning. While this is still a 2-node curve you should notice that the Auto Close button is grayed out. Looks like a line but it is a closed object.
Step 06
Simplicity of the nodes is vitally important. If you were to extrude an ellipse to create a cylinder you would get quite a few nodes on the extrude portion. This could result in a ragged looking symbol. Manually editing objects is quite a bit slower but it achieves a far superior result.
