step03.jpg (12109 bytes) Note that the end of the wing from: WBL 413.000 (this is 142 + 413 from the center of the fuselage) and Station 312.5/360.0, WL 132.00 to the end at WBL 428 is curved. We will fudge this later.
Note: the wings are symmetrically opposite. This means that as we develop each rib they will be placed along a left and right center spars.
step04.jpg (8970 bytes) Plotting the spars.
The C-47 wing had 3 main spars; Front, Center and Rear. For the purposes of this tutorial you only need to plot the center (big fat magenta line) spars for the left and right wings. The key points for the center spar are as follows:
Point 1: At FBL 0.000 and Station 285.5 and WL 135.00
Point 2: At WBL 142.000 and Station 285.5 and WL 135.00
Point 3: Finally WBL 413.000 and Station 330.0 and WL 160.00
step05.jpg (7831 bytes) Start drawing here with the left wing (You are sitting in the cockpit flying the C-47)

Use the green grid (Butt Lines) and create a line (shown in magenta) from 0.00 to about 142.00 (the segments represent 12 inches) This will be the butt lines point 1 and 2. Please constrain (Ctrl) along the 30 degree axis while drawing.
