Constructing the Bicycle - page 3
Create a rectangle 18.50" high (y) by 0.625" wide. Click on it to get the rotation handles and move the center circle over the lower right corner. Select and ungroup the rear wheel. Pick the center circle and convert it to curves. Use the Node Edit tool to marquee select all of the nodes and hit the plus sign to add a node at the 45 degree points. Snap the lower right point of the new tube to the left upper 45 degree node. Use the Property Bar to apply a rotation of 316.5 degrees.
Create a rectangle 16.00" high (y) by 0.75" wide. Snap the bottom of the rectangle/center to the center of the rear wheel. Click on the rectangle to get the rotation handles and move the center circle over the bottom center. Use the Property Bar to apply a rotation of 265.50 degrees.
The front fork is a little more complex. Create a rectangle 16.00" high (y) by 1.00" wide. Convert this to a curve (Ctrl+Q). The bottom of the fork is thinner use the Node Edit Tool to bring in each bottom node by 0.188". Zooming in close and using the constrain (Ctrl) key will help. With the Node Edit Tool marquee select all nodes, and hit the plus sign to add nodes. Select each of the two lower side segments and convert those line segments to curves. Select the middle two nodes and smooth them. To create the fork’s offset draw a horizontal line 2 inches long. Snap that line to the bottom right node. Use the Node Edit Tool to constrain marquee select/drag the lower three nodes right until they snap into place. Finally fix the curve with the Node Edit Tool as show in the far right illustration.
