Rendering Complex Objects - page 8
Use the Node Edit Tool (F10) to convert each of the rounded sections shown to curved segments using the Node Edit Roll-up. Once all six have been converted marquee select all of the nodes and use the smooth tool. Use the Node Edit Tool (F10) to manually modify some of the curves. Fill with C=5, M=2, Y=0, K=80. Use the Transform Roll-up to apply a 25% horizontal and vertical scale to a duplicate of the new shape and manually reposition (yellow outline).
Change the fill of the smaller shape to C=5, M=2, Y=0, K=74. Finally shift click select both shapes, X out the outlines and then apply a blend of 6 and bring the antenna to the front (Ctrl+Page Up).
The phone is done and ready for page make-up at the ad agency. This is when the trouble starts. Do you send it as *.ai, *.eps etc. etc. In my experience the best answer, at least with CorelDRAW 7 or 8 is as an uncompressed tif file. This is a file that not only can you check but you could soften a few edges that are too hard. You might also want to airbrush a highlight on the bezel and other such niceties. I would be very interested in seeing your results. Please feel free to mail a copy (print of disk) to me c/o Invotech, PO Box 952, Miller Place, NY 11764.

A number of folks have asked questions like "I can do this or that in this workstation CAD program. Can I do that in CorelDRAW?" Next month I will try to use CAD like commands to create objects.
