Installing the Wings & Building the Engine Nacelles - page 7 |
Draw a prop blade approximately as shown making sure that it touches the outside circle and overlaps the small center circle. Use the small circle to trim the point where they overlap. Complete this step by creating a small rectangle at the other extreme and combine the blade and square.
Select the blade/rectangle curve and use the Transform Roll-Up to apply a 120 degree (3 blades) rotation to a duplicate of the blade twice. Delete the outside circle and break apart the blades and delete the small rectangles. Next use your Iso Eval or Technical Drawing Tools to apply an Isometric Front effect to the three blades and the hub.
Each of the red grid lines are 12 inches apart, just what we need to create the depth of the hub. Snap-Draw a line between two points an that grid. Move the result close to the small circle. Duplicate the hub ellipse and break it at the major axis with the Node Edit Tool. Break apart the circle and delete the left side. Snap the 12 inch long line to the top major axis node of the complete circle. Snap the half circle to the end of the line. Select the half circle and complete the hub. Bring the front to the front and fill everything with white. |
