Creating Extrusions - page 10
Use the Extrude Tool (Ctrl+E) to apply an extrusion to the object with the following settings: back parallel, VP locked to object, object center, Horizontal 0, Vertical -1.0. If the result is too deep or shallow adjust the vertical dimension until it looks right. If you get extraneous lines try using the Node Edit Roll-Up to smooth the offending nodes. Rotating the extrusion 120 degrees will correct the isometric orientation.
To render: Fill the front with a Uniform Fill = C15, M5. Select the extrude group and set the lighting as follows: Light 1 = front/bottom/right = 30; Light 2 = front/bottom/center = 30; Light 3 = front/top/right.
Get a free copy of Isometric Tools by sending me the worst isometric symbol library you can find. A paper sample is OK.. Send your copy by snail mail to Invotech, PO Box 952, Miller Place, NY 11764 by November 30, 1997. I will pick the example that I find to be the worst and will post the sample here on our site.

Next month I’ll steal an idea from Gary Priester and offer something for the holidays. I know people do not normally think of isometrics as being full of holiday cheer but I’ll try.
